Frequently Asked Questions

What are dibs?

Dibs are our volunteer hours- each family is responsible for 10 dibs that are each 2 hours in length. Dibs include concession stand shifts and assigned high school game concessions. In addition, each team is responsible for covering box duties for their home games (mites will cover for their home tournament). These are separate from the required 10 dibs and are expected to be shared among all team families. Team managers will coordinate scheduling for home game duties. Coaches and locker room monitors are exempt from home game box duties.

How do I sign up for dibs?

You can sign up for the dibs on our website (not on the app) , Go to the website, account, participants, volunteer. Then scroll down to "more information". Once you sign up they will then sync to your calendar and your notifications will remind you when it's coming up. It's highly recommended to try and work concession stand dibs that are NOT during your child's games. This will ensure you don't miss the game.

How do I run the clock? How do I set up the concession stand?

If you missed the clock tutorial at the all association meeting, we recommend you shadow someone during a game to learn. There is a step-by-step manual right next to the clock also.

If you're brand new to the concession stand, sign up for a non opening or closing shift and have your partner help you learn the job. There is an informational sheet hanging up in the concession stand.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Greenway Joint Recreation Association and GAHA provide a needs based scholarship program for families that are not able to afford the registration fee. The scholarship does not cover the USA Hockey registration fee, DIBS deposit/required volunteering and required fundraising. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please complete the scholarship application. A committee of GAHA board members and Rec board members reviews the applications and awards the scholarships.
